Aircraft Use MarkDemonstrating that your product meets the rigorous safety requirements for use in the critical aircraft environment can be a daunting task. To assist manufacturers in meeting this challenging demand, TÜV introduces the TÜV Mark for aircraft use. The first certification mark of its kind in the industry, the TÜV Mark for aircraft use provides certification that specifically indicates that a product has been evaluated and tested for use in the critical aircraft environment. The TÜV Mark also demonstrates that a product has been rigorously tested and approved by TÜV Product Service, a globally recognized and trusted independent third-party testing and certification organization. About the TÜV Mark for Aircraft
Use In addition, the TÜV Mark contains the phrase "For aircraft use" which demonstrates that the product has been subjected to specific evaluation and testing schemes to verify the safety of the product for use in an aircraft environment. To receive the TÜV Mark for aircraft
use, a product is first reviewed in order to develop a comprehensive testing
plan. Dependent upon the product type and intended use, a product is subjected
to comprehensive testing and evaluation requirements for Electromagnetic
Compatibility, Electrical Safety, Functional Safety, and Ruggedness/Robustness
of design. In addition, "Failure Mode Effects Analysis", the
same process used for evaluating safety critical components, is employed
as part of the certification requirements. The test levels for unsafe
conditions are in some cases as high as those for cockpit avionics. The
safety testing/evaluation criteria can include: no fluctuation in output
voltage; no smoke, fumes, or flames; internal and external temperature
limits; cord lengths and connector construction; case mechanical strength
and crush resistance; fluid, dust, foreign object (paper clips, etc.)
susceptibility; and more. Benefits of the TÜV Mark for Aircraft

The
unique TÜV Mark displays an "S" pictogram with the statements
"Safety tested" and "Production monitored," meaning
that the product (including its performance) has passed a comprehensive
review and testing scheme certifying that the product is state of the
art, and that the production plant is regularly monitored.
