European
Services: CE Marking
TÜV Product Service
is a Notified Body for the European Union Low Voltage Directive. The
Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC (LVD) was adopted by the European
Council on February 19, 1973 with the purpose of harmonizing the laws
of Member States relating to electrical equipment designed for use within
certain voltage limits. In 1993, the LVD was amended by Directive 93/68/EEC
to include the procedures for conformity assessment and CE Marking products.
CE Marking of products that fall under the scope of the Low Voltage Directive
is mandatory, and indicates compliance with the requirements of the European
Union (EU).
Electrical equipment covered by the Low Voltage Directive:
With the exception of the equipment listed in Annex II, the directive
applies to electrical equipment designed for use at a rated voltage of
50 to 1000 V for alternating current and 75 to 1500 V for direct current.
Rated voltage refers to the input or output voltage of the equipment and
not voltages which are generated internally.

as published by the European Commission.
TÜV provides
testing services to help clients apply the CE Marking under the Low Voltage
direct for many IEC/EN standards, including:
- IEC/EN 60950:
Safety of information technology equipment.
- IEC/EN 61010:
Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control
and laboratory use.
- IEC/EN 60065:
Audio, video and similar electronic apparatus - safety requirements.
- IEC/EN 60335:
Safety of household and similar electronic devices.
- IEC/EN 61558:
Safety of power transformers, power supply units and similar.
Differentiate
with the"CUE" TÜV-Mark
To
provide clients further market differentiation, TÜV offers the CUE
certification program. CUE is the name for our 3-in-1 product certification
service package for the Canadian, United States and European
markets. When conducting electrical safety testing with TÜV, we will
simultaneously determine compliance of your products to Canadian (CSA/SCC),
the United States (UL/ANSI) and European (EN/IEC) safety standards, thus
providing a unique 3-in-1 service offering.
The CUE TUV-Mark can then be applied to your product demonstrating compliance
to these three important markets.
