IEC 60601-1:2005 3rd Edition

The IEC 60601-1:2005 (3rd edition) was published in December 2005. It is the third edition of the basic standard, replacing the previous version IEC 60601-1:1988+A1:1991+A2:1995. The 3rd edition contains many important changes compared to the 2nd edition, and places a much greater emphasis on risk management. While the 2nd edition is still valid, the transition period for the 3rd edition of IEC 60601-1:2005 will expire on June 1, 2012. On this date, the standard for "Medical electrical equipment - Part 1: General requirements for basic safety and essential performance" will come into full effect, and 2nd edition certificates will no longer be accepted by many countries.

Testing for Compliance
TÜV SÜD America can test to many EMC requirements, including the international standard IEC 60601-1 3rd edition. Testing is conducted in state-of-the-art shielded semi-anechoic enclosures, which allows for accurate measurements to be recorded without interference from ambient signals or licensed broadcast signals. Training
