| TUV SUD America Awarded California Climate Action Registry's 2008 Batch Verification |
Currently, there are no nationwide mandatory regulations in the U.S. governing the amount of carbon dioxide an organization can emit into the atmosphere. However, the state of California is one of the first states to enact a voluntary Greenhouse Gas Registry called the California Climate Action Registry (CA Registry). Participants in this program compile an annual inventory report summarizing greenhouse gases emitted by various sources throughout their organization. TUV SUD America is approved by the California Energy Commission (CEC) as verifier for the California Climate Action. For more information, visit www.the.climateregistry.org, or learn more about TUV's Carbon Management Service at the newly created web section at http://tuvamerica.com/services/carbonmgmt.cfm. In March 2008, TUV SUD America was selected by the California Climate Action Registry (CCAR) to conduct the batch verification for 2008. The CCAR's batch verification is awarded to one verification firm each year. This year approximately 60 companies were grouped into the one batch. This win provides significant market exposure for TUV as an industry leader in Carbon Management Service.
